Earls Barton 6 v Raunds Town Red 5

It was never expected that there would be so many goals scored in this game and was a very tight game from start to finish with both teams having chances. Earls Barton were always in front but Raunds came back every time with a goal. With 3 goals from both Keets and Dayne - on a normal day you’d of thought it was enough to seal a win, however whilst leading 6 – 3 and 15 minutes to go we were unfortunate to score an own goal which obviously gave Raunds something to push for at 6 – 4. It was pretty tough for the last 10 minutes with the ball going from one end of the pitch to the other but Raunds managed to score the next goal which made it 6 – 5. Earls Barton appeared to be flagging a bit with just 5 minutes to go and panic a touch, however every ball that came in the direction of the goal was cleared away to stop Raunds having any chance of scoring. With a little bit of encouragement from the sidelines to keep the boys going until the end they managed to hold on to the win! Good result for the boys - this was one they needed to win to keep them in the top half of the league. Man of the Match : Ryan Keightley. |
