EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Earls Barton 7 v Boro Alliance 1

3rd January 2010

The first 15 minutes of today’s game was very flat and boring, with both teams showing that they had had an xmas break.

The change in the game came when 18 minutes in there was some slick passing down the left hand side of the pitch (Deanno, Jacob & Brayfield), with Deanno crossing the ball in to the box from the left hand side for Dayne to slot it home. 1 – 0 Barton.
About 4 minutes later Earls Barton scored their 2nd when the ball was played in to the box and both Kyle and Boro’s keeper went for the ball and finished in a huddle on the floor, kyle managed to poke the ball out to the edge of the box where Deanno was waiting and positioned it in the back of the net between two Boro defenders trying to frantically clear their lines, 2 – 0 Barton.
Perhaps a bit conceited for a few minutes Earls Barton slacked off a bit and with 2 Boro forwards breaking in our own half they managed to score and get themselves back into the game. 2 – 1 Barton.
A short sharp reminder from me on how we should be aware all the time and not sit back seemed to work, Barton began to pass the ball around the pitch better and just over half way through the first half the ball fell to Ryan Addis about 35 yards out – in what is becoming his favourite spot to the right of the goal and he struck it beautifully to score in the top left hand corner, 3 – 1 Barton.
No time to write notes from that goal because within a minute Tom played a great long ball, picking out Dayne inside the box, who composed himself and lifted it over the top of the oncoming keeper, 4 – 1 Barton.
Well in to the 2nd half, Keets (who unbelievably hadn’t scored a goal yet), swept past several Boro players in the middle of the park, took a shot just inside the box which was headed out by the Boro defence. However, it only went as far as Captain Marvel Brayfield, who with usually chants from the crown of “have a shot”, duly obliged hammering it home to the right of the keeper, 5 – 1 Barton.
Barton seemed on a role with not much of normal time remaining, Brayfield played a corner towards the near post where Dayne flicked it on into the path of Deanno, who headed home his 2nd goal of the game, 6 – 1 Barton.
Into injury time and everyone was waiting for the whistle on a cold frosty afternoon when Keets took a throw in to Brayfield who drove the ball in towards the byeline. He hit a low cross in towards goal only to be deflected off of one of the Boro defenders into the goal. Brayfield sure it would have gone in anyway and Kyle convinced he would have got to it if it hadn’t - sorry boys own goal, 7 – 1 Barton.

Overall no bad performances today. The game took some time to get going but once we did we played some good football. Mention for Rhys Brownbill – for turning up on time (and some excellent saves)!! But Man of The Match today goes to Ryan Addis, for his tracking back, his energy levels he showed in midfield and great goal.

Well done everyone – big game next week, let's be 100% focused…… Keith.
