Rushden & Higham 10 v Earls Barton 1
4th October 2009 |
|
You have to take the positives out of this game. We obviously knew that it was going to be the toughest game we play this season so we will begin with a quiz………….. Who was the first team to score a goal against Rushden & Higham in competitive football this season ???? EARLS BARTON UNITED………. (Dean Whittemore) In the first half we were 3 – 1 down and going back out at half time who knows what would have happened if we had of scored another goal early on. However, Rushden’s home ground is a vast size pitch to cover and it was taking its toll on the boys quite early in to the 2nd half with a bare 11 players available for the game there was no time for a rest for any of them. The team though, still managed to play some good passing football for a spell in the 2nd half of the game but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net again. As for Dean’s goal – Earls Barton won a free kick about 20 yards out to the left of the box and Tom Allen played a superb ball in, which Dean ran in on and headed home into the net, an ecstatic group of lads emerged………….. Unfortunately, Tom got injured with 15 minutes left to play and so it left Earls Barton down to 10 men on the pitch and all were exhausted. Rushden then slotted more goals past the barton boys to bring the tally up to 10. For the boys that went out there today – well done lads, you worked hard for great spells in the game and the scoreline doesn’t do you justice. Man of the Match Today Rhys Brownbill - for obvious reasons, I don’t think anyone needs me to explain!!!! Great game Rhys. Friendly next week so in the words of Lance, come on green army………………………. |
