EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Earls Barton 1 v Corby Hellenic Fisher Youth 2

19th October 2008

We were expecting a harder game against this team and the competition was fierce on the pitch at times.

The result on the final whistle was really disappointing following a stalemate in the first half with 50 - 50 possession. Earls Barton went 1 nil up at the start of the second half when Keets made another fantastic run down the flank and crossed the ball in for Wojtek to get a foot on it at the back post.
The Earls Barton boys began to sit back a bit and allowed Corby to play. Ultimately we didn't close them down and because of this they equalised. An unfortunate hand ball in the box gave Corby a penalty which was hit against the crossbar and Rhys gathered it to deny them the follow in.
We didn't play as well today as we've been playing recently and it showed for a good 20 minute spell - during which time Corby managed to score their second. Too many balls played in the middle of the pitch were kicked straight to the apponents.

On a positive note, there was spells on a few occasions within the game when we played some good football, keeping the ball on the floor, looking for the pass instead of panicking and desire - are three things that we are good at when we put our hearts in to it.

The under 15's need to "dust theirselves off and learn from mistakes today".
