Kettering Town 10 v Earls Barton 0

15th September 2007

This was the U15’s first ever match with none of the girls having had any previous competitive experience.

Despite this for large parts of the game they competed well with Kettering Town with notable defensive performances from “woman of the match” Beth McInnis and ably supported by Louise Prickett, Jade Lines and the hard tackling Jemma Grant (a chip off the old block eh Steve!)

In midfield Danny Craddock ran tirelessly, and Jess “titch” Goddard raised the best laugh with the most blatant handball in history claiming she “forgot it was football”! Emily Mills did test the Kettering keeper with a long range free kick and Emma Annis will certainly score goals given some service in the future having made some good runs and shots.

A big well done to Charlie, Jenns, Chloe and Beck`s who all tried their very best against some strong opposition.

Earls Barton 0 v Rothwell Town 18

22nd September 2007

Earls Barton were completely outplayed in the first half with many of the team struggling against some good players.

The second half saw a revival of spirit and the girls started to rise to the challenge and played some competitive football. We must not forget that this is still very much a steep learning curve with this being only the second game all the girls have ever played.

Special mention to Emma “Kanga” Annis, Jessica “Titch” Goddard and Jemma “vinnie” Grant who all had good games and nobody gave up the fight.

Although the game was tough the effort and team sprit in the squad is excellent and 8 of the team went off to watch the cobblers after the match.

A big thank you to all the parents for coming along and supporting the girls. I cannot wait till we score our first goal, there will be some celebrations!!

Rothwell Town 0 v Earls Barton 1

2nd Feb 2008 (League Cup)

This was the U15’s first ever competitive win and they remain unbeaten in 2008!!

Considering we have conceded 42 goals in three games against Rothwell this was a remarkable performance.

Rothwell could well have been 5 goals up had it not been for Emily Mills’ brilliant shot stopping. The team grew in belief and confidence with Jade Lines almost scoring just before the break.

The second half saw the girls pass well and defend as a team. Emma Annis flicked on a goal kick that Charlie ran onto and shot under the keeper for the goal. Complete mayhem ensued and EBFC defended for 30 minutes without Emily needing to pull off any real saves.

Every player deserves a special mention for the hard work and determination they have shown this season and Saturday was a reflection of just how far they have come since the beginning of the season.

A very proud and emotional day for Earls Barton FC.
