Earls Barton 4 v Brackley Town 6
10th February 2008 |
|
Brackley Town are certainly proving to be Earls Barton's bogey side, yet again Barton took a comfortable lead only for Brackley to fight back and take the points. Sinead Barry opened the scoring with a contender for quickest goal of the season, just 23 seconds on the clock. The ball being fed to her straight from the kick off, she took it on and fired low and hard into the far corner of the net. Three minutes later it was 2-0, Donna Norman firing from the right and the keeper could only parry it into the net at her near post. Sinead Barry scored no 3 on 17 minutes heading in a well delivered corner from Lauren Care. 5 minutes later Brackley pulled one back to make the score 3-1 at half time. Barton knew from past experience that the next goal was vital. Unfortunately for them it was Brackley that scored it 10 minutes into the second half. Three minutes later it was 3-3 and panic was setting into the Barton defence. Brackley's long balls over the top of the Barton defence for their speedy front two to run onto were catching Barton out and leaving the keeper stranded. On 65 minutes Brackley took the lead for the first time in the game but Barton responded well and new signing Taleisha Holder scored on her debut 8 minutes later. The next goal was crucial and Brackley scored it on 77 minutes and settled the match with the final goal on 84 minutes which left the Barton team and management wondering how on earth we could lose a game which we were so much in control of in the first half. That's football I guess. Earls Barton's player of the match today, voted by the opposition was Jade Brayfield. |
