Earls Barton 4 v Thorplands 0
11th January 2009 |
|
Earls Barton got the New Year off to a good start with a comfortable 4-0 win over Thorplands. It was good to get back into action after the Christmas break and last week's game called off due to frozen pitches.
Playing up the slope in the first half,Barton created several chances but some good keeping and the woodwork prevented any score until the 39th minute. Half-time 1-0 After the break Barton pressed forward more and more and Amy Moore scored her 2nd on 55 minutes, this time latching onto a defence splitting pass from Shelley Norman. A few minutes later Barton were awarded a penalty when Moore was flattened on her way to a hat trick. Amy got up to take the kick but fired the ball straight at the outstanding keeper who managed to parry it away to be cleared by one of her defenders. Amy completed her hat trick on 72 minutes again her speed giving the Thorplands defence problems before she slotted past the keeper. The fourth and probably best goal of the game came on 78 minutes, Amy Moore picking the ball up on the left, squaring it to Vicky Farmer in the 18 yard box who in turn unselfishly passed it on to Siana Adams on the right of the box who smashed it past the keeper. There were some good performances for Barton today, obviously Amy Moore scoring her hat trick, Natasha Smith had a solid game in defence, Donna Norman was named player of the match by the opposition for her work in midfield, she was very unlucky not to have got on the score sheet today but our player of the match award goes to Vicky Farmer who worked tirelessly for the team today on the left, made some good runs and linked up well with her team mates. This is only her 5th game for the club so I'm sure the more she plays the better the understanding between her and the rest of the team. |
