EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Abington Athletic 4 v Earls Barton 1

12th October 2008

An entertaining game of football on a Sunny Sunday afternoon saw Earls Barton take an early lead against Abington, Amy Moore running onto a through ball from Lauren Care and slotting past the keeper. But Barton could not add to it before Abington equalised on 27 minutes. Both sides created further chances but with half time approaching Abington snatched the lead.

Abington looked the stronger of the two teams in the second half, Barton not helped by a knee injury to influential midfielder Donna Norman and 15 minutes before time defender Katie York having to be taken to hospital with an ankle injury. Abington went on to score a further two goals in the second half without reply, making the points safe for them.

It is still early days for Barton's new players, this being only our third game of the season, Amy Moore is causing defences problems with her speed and finishing ability, Hannah Pye had a great game on the right wing today and was my players of the match, Hannah Farthing and Natasha Smith are looking a good pairing in defence and overall things are looking good for the future.
