Earls Barton 10 v Thorpelands Utd 3
13th January 2008 |
|
Earls Barton got back on track today being able to field a full squad for the first time in a couple of months. Barton got off to a flyer with a goal in the first minute, Lauren Care taking the ball down the left wing and cutting it back for Donna Norman to fire past the keeper. Norman scored her second on 15 minutes, this time a longer range effort from outside the box and completed her hat trick 5 minutes later, again after good work down the left wing. Catherine Sealey got no. 4 on 34 minutes, after good movement between her and Sinead Barry, before Thorplands pulled one back, making the score 4-1 at half time. After the break it was Sinead Barry's turn to score a hat trick, her first coming on 50 minutes, Lauren Care and Catherine Sealey scored in between with Barry's second on 60 minutes and third and probably best goal, a thundering header into the top right corner after a brilliant cross from the right by Catherine Sealey on 70 minutes. Thorplands then scored two break away goals before Emma Ogden finished off the scoring in the last minute. Player of the match voted by the opposition for the second week running Sinead Barry, I too would go along with that but would have to include Donna Norman who had a fine game in midfield. Thorplands should be commended for their team spirit and attitude to the game - even though they were losing they played with a smile on their faces and worked for one another - well done ladies. |
