EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Kingsthorpe 0 v Earls Barton 6

16th September 2007

Earls Barton got off to a flyer with a goal after just 38 seconds, Catherine Sealey scoring from a tight angle from the edge of the box after weaving her way through the Kingsthorpe players straight from the kick off. Barton, with the wind at their backs created several more chances before Lauren Green scored no 2 after 30 minutes, a corner pinged about in the area before 'Greeny' got the final touch to push it over the line.

Half-time 2-0

After the break it was Kingsthorpe who had the wind at their backs and for 10 minutes Barton had a job getting the ball out of their own half, but on 55 minutes Catherine Sealey scored easily the best goal of the game when she received the ball from Lauren Care out on the left wing, turned and hit the ball on the volley into the net. Seven minutes later Sealey completed her hat trick, this time a tap in, after another good ball fed in from the left by 'Carey' right across the 6 yard box, Sealey getting to the ball before the keeper. Barton were now beginning to get their game together and the midfield started to feed some good balls through for the front two to run onto. Donna Norman latching onto such a ball after 71 minutes and coolly slotted the ball past the keeper. Lauren Care completed the scoring two minutes later firing in from the edge of the area.

A bit of a scrappy game, not helped by the windy conditions, but a good result none-the-less. Notable performances today, Sheryl Robinson who played in goal for the first time in a league game and kept a clean sheet, Lauren Care voted Player of Match by the opposition and Emma Ogden voted Player of Match by the home team supporters for her strength and distribution in midfield.
