EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Rothwell Town 12 v Earls Barton 1

16th December 2007

A very depleted Earls Barton team were taught a lesson in passing and moving today. Both teams only able to field 10 players, but Rothwells 10 outplayed Earls Barton 10.

Rothwell opened the scoring with just 4 minutes on the clock and then went on to score another 4 before Barton pulled one back through Catherine Sealey just before half time. Barton huffed and puffed but with regular players missing from all parts of the field they found it difficult to get any fluid movement going to break down a strong Rothwell team.
Having not played or trained for the past two weeks due to the weather did not help their cause.
The second half was much of the same with Rothwell scoring for fun. Hopefully in the return leg Barton will have some regular players back and give Rothwell more of a game.

We must always look for the positives out of a disappointing result - Chelsea Carter finally made her debut and did well in difficult circumstances, Sheryl Robinson deputised in goal, and despite the score line handled things well, and Emma Ogden playing against her old team played well in midfield, if a little frustrated at times.

Player of the match voted by the opposition Catherine Sealey, player of the match for me was Emma Ogden.

We now look forward to the Christmas Break and hopefully having a full squad fit and available in the New Year.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.
