EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

AFC Trinity 8 v Earls Barton 4

18th November 2007 (County Cup R2)

On a very cold wet Sunday afternoon at the Racecourse these two teams served up a feast of goals in a game that swung one way and then the other and back again before Trinity finally saw off Barton's chances of going any further in this cup competition.

Trinity opened the scoring after just 5 minutes. Catherine Sealey levelled the scores 5 minutes later, Donna Norman made it 1-2 on 16 minutes, Catherine Sealey got her second on 28 minutes and Lauren Green poked one in from a corner on 33 minutes, 1-4 you would think that would be game set and match for Barton, but Trinity had other ideas and scored two before half time to set up an interesting second half.

Trinity were obviously inspired by their two goals just before the break and came out fired up for the second half and got the equaliser two minutes in. Barton were now under the cosh and finding it difficult to get the ball out of their own half for long periods. Trinity got the all important next goal on 65 minutes and then finished off Barton, who were now reduced to 10 players through injury, with three goals in the last 10 minutes.

Player of the match for Barton today, Shelley Norman.
