Earls Barton 1 v Abington Athletic 1
19th April 2009 |
|
Barton and Abington shared the points today in a fairly close contest, Abington having the better of the first half and Barton having the better of the second. Abington broke the deadlock on 27 minutes but could not find the all important second goal. Just on the stroke of half time one of their players twisted her knee and the game was held up for 45 minutes waiting for the ambulance to take her off to hospital. We all wish her a speedy recovery. After such a long break in play it was like starting the game over and this time it was Barton who found the back of the net after 8 minutes into the second half, Amy Moore running on to a long goal kick from Hollie McKain and rounding the keeper. Shortly after Amy was unlucky not to score a similar goal but this time the ball ran out of play after rounding the keeper. Both teams created further chances but neither could find the winning goal. Barton's player of the match goes to Natasha Smith in central defence. |
