EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Brackley Sports Project 0 v Earls Barton 4

19th October 2008

Earls Barton secured their first win of the season with a comfortable victory against Brackley Sports Project. Barton were awarded a penalty within the first minute of the game due to a hand ball within the area but Barton let Brackley off the hook when the spot kick was dragged wide of the goal.

It was not long before Barton took the lead, Donna Norman finishing some slick passing through the middle and slotting past the keeper. On 17 minutes it was 2-0 courtesy of Donna Norman, Hannah Pye crossing the ball from the right and Donna firing in through a crowded box. Barton kept plugging away at the Brackley goal and the third goal came on 38 minutes when Amy Moore volleyed in Lauren Care's cross at the far post. Minutes later Jade Brayfield thought she had scored her first goal of the season with a fine headed goal from a corner but the ref blew for an infringement.

Half-time 0-3

Brackley came into the game more in the second half but never really threatened the Barton keeper, the defence dealing with any attacks Brackley put together. Amy Moore scored Barton's fourth and final goal of the game on 59 minutes after the ball had been fed down the left wing from Caroline Kendhammer, playing at left back instead of her usual right back, to Jade Brayfield who whipped the ball across the goal for Amy to slide in to the net. Hannah Pye also thought she had scored her first goal for Barton when she hooked the ball over the advancing keeper only to see a defender run in and clear the ball off the line.

Overall a good afternoon's football from both sets of players. Sophie Barrett made a fine debut for Earls Barton in the centre of midfield, Hannah Pye had another good game on the right wing but player of the match award today goes to , Jade Brayfield on the left wing.
