EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Earls Barton 7 v Moretonville 1

5th December 2009

Earls Barton got off to a flying start with 2 goals inside the first 10 minutes. Megan Watkins got her first of 5 after just 5 minutes and Kelly Hewitt got her first of a brace on 8 minutes, Alix Daverson setting her up to fire across the goal past the keeper. Emily Baldry was unlucky not to score with a screamer of a shot from about 30 yards out which struck the crossbar and even had the opposition manager applauding. Barton then took their foot off the gas and allowed Mortonville to get back into the game but the score remained 2-0 at half time.

The next goal was crucial and it was a well worked goal from the back, the keeper played the ball out to Emily Baldry, who found Kelly Hewitt who fed Megan for goal no 3. Six minutes later Kelly crossed the ball into the box which the keeper spilled and Megan tapped into an empty net.

Moretonville then scored a breakaway goal, nipping in between two defenders and the approaching keeper to make the score 4-1.

Kelly Hewitt scored no 5 for Barton running onto a ball through the middle and slotting past the keeper at the inside post, Megan then scored a similar goal Kelly Hewitt this time the provider and three minutes from time Megan scored her fifth latching onto a corner at the far post.

A good all round team performance, Amy Green had her best game of the season on the left wing, Megan Watkins and Kelly Hewitt are becoming a strong partnership up front and Player of the Match has to go to Emily Baldry in midfield, who was strong in the tackle and laid off some lovely balls for the forwards to run onto.
