Earls Barton 8 v Drayton Grange 0
7th March 2010 |
|
Drayton turned up with only 8 players today but those 8 players deserve a big pat on the back for the way they fought and made Earls Barton work really hard to secure their win. Megan 'Golden Boots' Watkins scored her first of 6 after just 12 minutes, Barton were awarded a free kick 25 yards out, Emily Baldry took the kick which the keeper knocked down and Megan tapped in. Two minutes later Kelly Hewitt back flicked the ball over the defender with her head turned and ran onto the ball and placed it past the keeper. Megan made it three on 17 minutes running onto a through ball and slotting it in off the far post. The extra nos meant Barton were creating chance after chance with a lot of them being wasted or saved by the Drayton keeper who was in fine form. H-T 3-0 After the break the goals came a bit more freely for Barton with the Drayton girls tiring. Megan tapped in no 4 after Kelly crossed the ball into the box from the right, 5 minutes later Megan scored the goal of the game, picking the ball up on the half way line running the length of the pitch dribbling round a couple of defenders and slotting the ball past the keeper. No 6 came just a couple of minutes later, this time Megan ran onto a ball from Jo Morton and placed it past the keeper. The seventh was a simple tap in for Megan after Kelly Hewitt had struck from the right and the keeper could only parry it into the path of Megan to tap in. The final goal of the game was scored by Kelly running onto a fine ball from Emily Baldry and shooting past the keeper. Player of the match award goes to Annalea Granger playing at right back who enjoyed the extra space and made several runs down the right wing to support the front players. |
