Corby S&L Reserves 5 v Earla Barton 2
8th November 2009 |
|
Earls Barton made a bright start at Corby today and took a well deserved lead after 20 minutes, Amy Moore and Megan Roberts linking up well up front, Megan latching onto Amy's crossfield ball and letting fly from the right side of the 18 yard box high into the far left of the goal. Ten minutes later Barton went further ahead, Emmie Hardy playing the ball through to Megan who flicked the ball into Amy's path for her to take the ball on and slot past the keeper. Corby pulled one back just three minutes later and then just before half time found the all important equaliser. H-T 2-2 Barton knew the next goal was going to be vital and unfortunately for them it was Corby who scored next 10 minutes into the half. This gave Corby the boost they needed and knocked the stuffing out of Barton for a while, especially when they thought they had scored an equaliser a few minutes later, only for it to be flagged offside. Corby's physical strength then took charge and they scored 2 more to secure the points, which was a bit harsh on Barton who had played some good football and didn't really deserve to lose the game. Some good performances amongst the Barton girls again today, in particular, two of the youngsters, Omi Mckie and Emmie Hardy, but overall my player of the match award goes to Natasha Smith in the heart of the Barton defence. |
