Kingsthorpe 2 v Earls Barton 2
12th May 2010 |
|
Barton got off to a good start with a goal after just 9 minutes. A quickly taken free kick by Kelly Hewitt out on the right wing found Amy Green in the 18 yard box who struck the ball into the far corner of the net giving the keeper no chance. Kingsthorpe equalised on 30 minutes then took the lead just before half time, Barton missing a glorious chance to equalise almost immediately from the restart. H-T 2-1 After the break Barton could not find the all important second goal, missing our top goal scorer who was laid up with a tummy bug, until 10 minutes from the end. Barton were awarded a free kick 30 yards from goal, Emily Baldry struck it sweetly into the box clipping a player on the way into the net. A frantic 10 minutes remained with both teams wanting to take all three points, Kingsthorpe missing a couple of open goals, Emily's second free kick just going wide of the post so both teams had to be happy with a point a piece. Not the best Barton performance today but the defence played very well, Courtney McDaid had another good game, as did Rachael Palmer but overall player of the match goes to Kerry Lawrence who won everything in the centre of defence and her distribution was also very good. |
