EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Woodford 4 v Earla Barton 3

13th December 2009

This was certainly a game of two halves, the first belonging to Earls Barton and the second to Woodford who pulled off a brilliant fight back to take all 3 points.

Barton got off to a flyer with a goal on 5 minutes from new girl Katie Allen. Twenty minutes later Emmie Hardy fired into the top right corner from the edge of the box to make it 2-0, and just before half time Jenna Looker made it 3-0 blasting the ball into the back of the net having been set up nicely by Emmie Hardy.

H-T 0-3

It should have been more of the same in the second half but Barton thought they had done enough to win the game and Woodford had other ideas and a goal 10 minutes into the half gave them the boost they needed. Unfortunately for Barton it did not give them the kick up the backside it should have done and an inspired Woodford gave Barton a lesson in sitting back on a lead. Three goals in the last 10 minutes gave Woodford their first league win of the season and you have to admit it was no more than they deserved - the Barton girls can certainly take note of their desire to win, work rate and camaraderie - something that seems to be lacking in the Barton camp at the moment.

Out of a poor performance we still have to look for the positives, Charlotte York had her best game this season playing in a new role for her at right back and player of the match voted by the opposition was, Omiette McKie.
