After a six week lay off due to Christmas and the bad weather it was nice to get back to playing football again this afternoon. It was also a pleasure to watch 2 teams working hard to secure 3 points. A very even first half saw both teams create chances without finding the back of the net until 3 minutes before the break when Corby broke the deadlock. H-T 0-1 Corby created more chances than Barton in the second half, playing down the slope, but the defence held strong until the 85th minute when Corby struck for the second time to secure the points. Earls Barton welcomed new goal keeper Sam Clark who did very well on her debut, and can only get better once she gets to know her team-mates. The whole team put in a very good hard working performance today, long may it continue, Jenna Looker taking the Player of the Match award for her performance in her new role of central defender. |
