Earla Barton 2 v Brackley Sports 3
25th October 2009 |
|
This was probably Earls Barton's worst performance of the season made worse by the fact that we were beaten by a team that could only field 9 players. Brackley's spirit and determination deservedly won them the game.
Brackley won the toss and kicked down the hill with the slope and the wind behind them and it was that decision that won them the game. After 8 minutes our stand-in keeper (no.4 so far this season) was beaten direct from a goal kick when she misjudged the flight on the long kick and it went over her head. H-T 0-3 After the break, and a couple of substitutions, Barton pushed to get back into the game and it was virtually all down hill again. Amy Moore scored from the penalty spot on 65 minutes to give Barton some hope and then scored a 2nd on 75 minutes, latching onto a pass from Jade Brayfield and slotting past the keeper. With 8 minutes of the game remaining play was held up for several minutes when one of the Barton girls received a nasty knock to her head, this probably helped Brackley as they were able to hold out for the win after having a chance to get their breath back, but it was no more than they deserved. Player of the match today for Barton, Omiette McKie. |
