Earla Barton 2 v Thorplands 2
27th September 2009 |
|
A very evenly contested game of football which either team could have won. Earls Barton probably had the better of the first half but Thorplands more than made up for that in the second half and a draw was probably a fair result overall.
Barton took an early lead when Lauren Perkins laid off a beautifully weighted through ball for Amy Moore to run onto and slot past the keeper into the far corner of the net. On 25 minutes Megan Roberts scored Barton's second when Chelsea Carter played a 1-2 with Megan on the edge of the box and Megan chipped the ball with the outside of her foot diagonally into the net. H-T 2-1 After the break Barton lost their rhythm and Thorplands came more into the game and equalised on 60 minutes when Barton did not defend a corner properly. The game could then have gone either way with both sides creating chances but unable to find the all important winning goal. Player of the match for Barton - voted by both managers Emmie Hardy who worked her socks off in midfield. Emmie has moved up from last season's U16 team and along with Omi McKie have both become useful assets to the team. |
