EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Earls Barton 1 v Kettering Town 4

28th April 2010

This was very much a game of two halves for Earls Barton, the first half sloppy defending costing them dear and allowing Kettering to score 4 easy goals before half time. Kettering scored within 3 minutes of the start but then Barton held them off for 20 minutes before a mad 10 minute spell in which Kettering scored another 3 goals.

H-T 0-4

After the break it was a much better performance, the defence tightened up only allowing Kettering long shots and Megan Watkins scored the best goal of the game, Emily Baldry playing the ball through from midfield, Megan turned the defender and fired the ball over the keeper into the top right hand corner of the net.

Although this was not our best performance of the season we must take the positives out of the game, the team worked hard in the second half to get back into the game, this is the best result we have had against Kettering for quite some time and we won the second half 1-0.

Individual performances of note tonight, Katie Newman had another fine game in goal, Megan Watkins scored another wonder goal, but overall my POM award goes to Ashleigh Goodman who worked extremely hard in midfield trying to support the front two and getting back to help the defence when needed.
