EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Earla Barton 3 v Kingsthorpe Jags 8

29th November 2009

Jags got off to a flyer with 2 goals within the first 10 minutes and another 2 before the half hour mark made sure they went home with the points today.

Megan Roberts gave Barton some hope on 36 minutes when she was sent chasing the ball down the right wing by Omi McKie and coolly slotted the ball inside the near post. Jags restored their 4 goal advantage just before half time.

After the break Barton pushed on more trying to get back into the game and created several more chances than they had done in the first half. Jenna Looker got Bartons second latching onto another great ball through the middle of the defence from Omi Mckie and then in the dying minutes Omi topped off her player of the match performance with a brilliant solo goal, picking up the ball in her own half running down the left wing past the defender and slotting past the keeper. Jags added another 3 in the second half to make the final score 3-8.

Despite the result there were some good performances today, Natasha Smith had another fine game in defence alongside Omi Mckie, they are pairing up nicely in the heart of defence, Lisa Lyman had a good game in midfield and new girl Katie Allen had a good first game, partnering Megan Roberts up front. Overall Player of Match award, voted by both managers, Omiette McKie.
