Earls Barton 1 v Corby S & L 1

Earls Barton started the game brightly but conceded a goal after 10 minutes against the run of play. Credit to the Barton Ladies, they did not let this slip- up affect their game and found the equaliser on 24 minutes, a long range shot parried by the keeper was picked up on the edge of the box by Vicky Farmer who found Amy Moore inside the 6 yard box to coolly slot past the keeper. It was even-stevens again in the second half with both teams having spells of pressure but neither team really troubling the oppositions keepers and the draw was the fairest result. Unfortunately the game was called to an abrupt end, 4 minutes from time, when 2 players jumped for the ball and the Barton girl was left laying in a heap. An ambulance was called but thankfully after prolonged treatment the girl was allowed home with her parents. It has been a stop-start season so far for Barton with many games being called off for one reason or another. We now look forward to starting afresh in the New Year and getting a run of games. My player of the match award goes to Vicky Farmer, who worked tirelessly just behind Amy Moore up front today and laid off the ball for Amy to equalise.
