Earls Barton 1 v Milton Keynes 5
22nd November 2008 |
|
Some sloppy defending and lack of confidence in front of goal cost Earls Barton dearly today. Milton Keynes broke the deadlock on 10 minutes and added an 'Own' 5 minutes later. Barton then woke up and started to play but when they got anywhere near the opposition's goal they wanted to walk it in instead of having a shot and the MK defence then had time to clear the ball before we got to trouble the keeper. H-T 0-2 All was not lost going in just 2-0 down at half time, Barton had come more into the game in the last 20 minutes of the first half and were confident they could keep that going in the second half. But just 2 minutes into the second half Barton conceded a third just what they didn't want. Credit to the girls though they kept plugging away and even after the fourth goal was conceded on 51 minutes they kept searching for a breakthrough. That came on 66 minutes when Lucy Green headed the ball into the path of Emily Baldry who rounded a couple of defenders before blasting past the keeper, and this time finding the back of the net. The renewed hope was short lived when MK scored again just 3 minutes after Barton's goal. If only, if only..... we could have finished our chances, not given away sloppy goals and started to play from the first whistle and not 15 minutes into the game once we had gone down 2 goals. All part of the learning curve. Earls Barton player of the match today Sarah Coulter-Brophy. |
