Daventry Town 5 v Earls Barton 2
25th November 2007 |
|
The top two fought out a fairly even contest this afternoon, Barton being undone by Daventry's clinical finishing and several of Barton's players only performing at half strength due to illness and injury comebacks. The game was even for the first 20 minutes with both sides getting to know one another. Daventry broke the deadlock on 24 minutes then scored another quick double before Barton pulled one back with a fine strike from the left, Loz Care returning from injury showing us what we have been missing. Daventry then restored their 3 goal advantage just on the stroke of half time. After the break both sides created several scoring chances with each side scoring just one more each, Daventry on 53 minutes and Catherine Sealey on 65 minutes for Barton. Catherine Sealey was voted player of the match by the opposition, as she often is, but the Barton management team gave that award to Lauren Green who had a fine game in the heart of defence. Overall the whole team performed well under difficult circumstances and should be applauded for dragging themselves off their sick beds and treatment tables to fulfil the fixture. |
