Earls Barton 2 v Corby Kingswood Cougars 3
27th September 2008 |
|
A very evenly contested match ended with the visitors going home with all three points. Earls Barton went ahead on 12 minutes the simplest of tap ins for Kelly Hewitt after Megan Watkins received the ball from a throw in and slotted the ball into the penalty area. Cougars equalised on 23 minutes and then took the lead 7 minutes later with a screamer of a shot from the left hand by line after Barton failed to defend a throw in. Six minutes later Cougars scored a fluke 3rd goal when Barton's keeper was caught by a high ball bouncing over her and into the net. HT 1-3 Barton came more into the game in the second half and Megan Watkins kept up her goal-a-game scoring with a well taken goal on 60 minutes, she ran onto a ball played through the middle, kept her cool and slotted past the advancing keeper. Barton pressed to find the equaliser but it was not to be. Notable performances for Barton today, Megan Watkins playing up front is in fine form at the moment, Emily Baldry, our new captain this season is bossing the defence well but overall player of the match today goes to another defender, Amy Green |
