Milton KeynesCity Ladies 1 v Earls Barton 3
28th February 2009 |
|
Earls Barton played some good football at times today but made hard work of getting the result. Although they dominated most of the first half they were a bit sluggish and didn't have the all important killer instinct. H-T 0-0 The first goal was going to be crucial and Earls Barton scored it 5 minutes into the second half. Mel McIvor played a good diagonal ball into the path of Megan Watkins to tuck away past the keeper. This seemed to liven Barton up and they created further chances before Megan got her second 5 minutes later, this time working the ball to the by-line and scoring from an acute angle. Four minutes later Megan turned provider, knocking the ball across the 6 yard box for Mel McIvor to tap in. All credit to Milton Keynes they did not give up and pulled one back 13 minutes from time and then pushed on to try and get further back into the match, but Barton held out and took all three points for the second consecutive week. Performances of note today: Lucy Green, Ashleigh Goodman and Emily Baldry in midfield, Kerry Lawrence and Sarah Coulter-Brophy in defence. Player of the match has to be split between Ashleigh and Sarah because they both had very good games today. |
