EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Kettering Amazons 4 v Earls Barton 3

28th September 2008

The games between these two sides have always been close affairs and today's was no different. Kettering broke the deadlock on 18 minutes only for Barton to equalise almost immediately, Donna Norman scoring her first of two. Barton were unlucky not to take the lead when Lauren Care swung in a corner which hit the inside of the far post but was cleared away by the Kettering defence. Kettering then scored a second 5 minutes before half time - slack defending by the Barton girls allowing Kettering in.

H-T 2-1

Almost immediately from the re-start Kettering broke down the left side and blasted their third, six minutes later scoring their fourth making it look as though the game was safe. But Barton fought back and on 60 minutes Donna Norman scored hers and Barton's second, when Siana Adams cross came off Norman's shoulder and into the net. Both sides created further chances, Barton forcing an own goal from another corner in stoppage time but could just not find the all important fourth goal.

Barton have a few new players this season who are finding their feet and getting to know the rest of the team, once they 'bed in' I'm sure the results will be more favourable.

Good performances today from Natasha Smith, Amy Moore and Siana Adams - three of our new signings but overall player of match goes to, Shelly Norman.Opposition's vote for player of match goes to Shelley's sister Donna.
