Earls Barton struggled to get their game together today after a month without any games. The story of our season this year is not being able to field a settled side week in week out and it certainly showed today, with players missing, those that were available having to play out of position and one or two struggling with injuries/illness but having to battle on due to lack of substitutes. Not to take anything away from Raunds, they thoroughly deserved their win, played together as a team and were first to everything. With the score 2-0 at half time the game was far from over if only Barton could get a goal back but it was Raunds who found the net again and again and again and sunk the Barton girls hearts. Despite the score line Rachael Callis our stand in keeper was voted player of the match by the opposition on her final game for Barton before she goes off travelling for 12 months. With just one game left this season at home to Rothwell Barton will have to regroup and recruit in preparation for next season. |
