EARLS BARTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Thorplands Utd 1 v Earls Barton 5

30th September 2007

Thorplands proved a hard nut to crack today with Barton being down to the bare bones of a team even the 'old' manager had to dust her boots off and give 90 minutes - plenty of Radox required after the game.

Thorplands started quite brightly but Barton scored first after 7 minutes, Lauren Green played a through ball for Sinead Barry to latch onto and score. 9 minutes later it could have been 2 when Donna Norman,s shot struck the post. Thorplands then equalised with a brilliant shot/cross from the right which sailed over the Barton keeper into the net. This woke Barton up and they scored 3 more goals in a 5 minute spell just before half time, a second for Sinead Barry and two for Catherine Sealey.

After the break Barton were creating chance after chance, most of them falling to Catherine Sealey but she had her boots on the wrong feet this week and fired most of them wide or straight to the keeper - we'll forgive her though she did manage to find the back of the net one more time on 60 minutes to seal her 3rd hat trick so far this season.

Performances of note today, Caroline Kendhammer had a fine game in defence also having to go up to take the corners with our usual corner taker unavailable but overall player of the match awarded by the opposition goes to Donna Norman who worked tirelessly in midfield.
