Mens First Team – Earls Barton vs Duston Dynamo

A break from the league saw us play Duston Dynamo in the cup. Unavailability through work, socially and illnesses left us short, but it gave a chance for others to impress and stake their claim for a place.

We didn’t know much about this team going into the game but what we did find out early on is that they could pass it around well. They kept possession well but did little to make an impact. Despite lack of the ball we looked the more dangerous going forward. Especially from the wide men Randall and Aldrich, despite playing out of their usual central roles.

We took the lead from a set piece. A Randall corner in which the keeper could only parry, which then lead to Conor leaving the defender and putting a great ball across the box for Kris to score. One of them as a forward you love to score.

With myself deputising in goal and Nicky filling in at left back the back 5 was make shift but coped very well with what they had to do. They were restricted to just 1 shot on target all half. 1nil up at HT.

2nd half i made it clear we couldn’t start slowly and what a reply. After just THIRTEEN seconds of the restart we got our 2nd. A long ball forward from Browny where Dayne never gave up and got his reward just poking it past the keeper. It was now ours to lose. As you’d expect they came at us but the team kept shape and restricted them to very few chances.

2 nil winners and in the hat for the next round.
